LUFENIA Orb Mechanics

  • There is no orb for this fight.

Boss Mechanics

  • Since there is no LUFENIA orb, the turn count is tight and so is the HP requirements.
  • Like the recent bosses, the Castle Guardian has tanky defenses. You need to constantly inflict DEF Down debuffs (e.g. Tidus, Gabranth, Faris) so that your units can bypass those resistances.

Mist Wreath

  • The main mechanic that you need watch out for is the Mist Wreath. It will activates at the following HP thresholds: 79%, 49%, 29%. If you kill one before the other, the surviving one will enrage and also put up a Mist Wreath.
  • With enough HP damage up calls (Kurasame, Gabranth, Ignis), it is possible to push past two HP thresholds in a row so that you don’t need to face the incoming attacks thrice.

The Mist Wreath covers the boss with a cloud of mist along with the following properties:

  • BRV Damage Received -50%, HP Damage Received -70% & lastly a HP Poison aura -20% of the party’s max individual HP. The Boss turns will framed and they will become immune to delay (include delay from breaks), turn deletion.
  • The mist effects will be dispelled when the boss takes a turn. You have multiple options to handle the follow-up attacks:
    • Disable the turn with HP Silence, Terror or Paralysis. The boss will skip its turn and mist will be cleared. The debuffs will remain intact!
    • Tank the attack with shields or Reno’s Pyramid debuff. After the boss uses the attack, all the debuffs on the boss will be cleansed if it uses Mist Breath+ or Mist Storm+.

The boss has a lot of nasty attacks:

  • :recastbar: Heavy Leaf: BRV Gain, 2x AOE BRV+HP (guaranteed hit) (charges in ~3 turns)
  • Wood Horn – ST BRV, delays target by 6 turns
  • Mist Storm (ST) and Mist Breath (AOE) inflicts DEF Down debuffs and will become + variants when the boss is wreathed in mist. The + variant is the same the normal version except it is 2x BRV+HP, guaranteed hit attacks.
