Many team ideas with and without boosted characters are available in this event’s Call to Arms!

These guides are only released at least one day after the event has launched, because they are based on first-hand experience from testing and beating the fight with different team comps and strategies. And that takes a good amount of time!

Fight Overview & Team building

Recommended:

Avoid:

  • Making a team without any kind of defensive options or party battery. Both waves have multiple :all: BRV attacks, and if all of your characters are constantly at 0 BRV after attacking, they are at risk of being broken by them and suffering a one-hit KO.

Summon tips:

  • Any summon of your choice.

Wave 1: Ochu x1, Microchu x2

Base stats (courtesy of DissidiaDB):
Max HP: 1,700,000 | INT BRV: 4200 | MAX BRV: 30000 | ATK: 9000 | DEF: 9000 | SPD: 35 | Chase value: 30

Tentacle :single: :melee: :brv: attack
Perforating Tentacle :single: :melee: :hp: attack
Screech  :magic: :brv: attack; grants :buff_generic: 5T ATK Up, grants :buff_regen: 5T BRV Regen to party
Pollen  :magic: :brv: attack; inflicts :debuff_poison: 3T Venom; restores party’s HP based on BRV damage dealt
Seed DispersalSummons microchu; increases BRV.
Used at certain HP thresholds, or as a free turn after its other attacks.
Tentacle Drill :single: :melee: :brv: attack + :hp: attack
Dance of Tentacles  :melee: :brv: attack + :hp: attack

At wave start: Chaos aura grants 50% increase to SPD
The Stench Worsens…!”:(activates at 80% HP):
Aura changes to 30% increase to ATK, INT BRV, MAX BRV and 60% to SPD, lowers BRV damage taken by 30%
The stench worsens further…!:
(activates at 50% HP):
Aura changes to 50% increase to ATK, INT BRV, MAX BRV and 70% to SPD, lowers BRV damage taken by 50%
Enrage:
No. And when the Ochu dies, it takes all Microchu with it.

Base stats (courtesy of DissidiaDB):
Max HP: 100,000 | INT BRV: 4200 | MAX BRV: 30000 | ATK: 9000 | DEF: 9000 | SPD: 34 | Chase value: 10

Triple Strike :single: :melee: :brv: attack; restores party’s BRV based on BRV damage dealt
Rabble :single: :melee: :hp: attack; restores party’s HP based on HP damage dealt
Poison Powder :single: :magic: :brv: attack; inflicts :debuff_poison: 3T Poison

This wave is nothing but a warm-up. The Ochu does not cause any significant debuffs, and its minions are non-entities; at only 100k HP each, a sneeze is enough to kill them. Just focus your damage on the big one and ignore the microthingies no matter how many times they are summoned back. The only dangerous part of this wave is if your whole team gets broken by its :all: Screech, in which case the free turn it gets afterwards will likely result in a KO; or if you leave it alive for too long with very low health , in which case it will start using :all: Dance of Tentacles.

Wave 2: Roc Raptor x2

Base stats (courtesy of DissidiaDB):
Max HP: 3,500,000 | INT BRV: 4400 | MAX BRV: 30000 | ATK: 11000 | DEF: 14000 | SPD: 36 | Chase value: 40

Aeroga :single: :magic: :wind: :brv: attack
Rip :single: :melee: :hp: attack
Wind Blast :single: :magic: :wind: :brv: attack
Storm BreathReduces all enemies’ BRV to 1/2; increases BRV;
 :magic: :brv: attack + :hp: attack; increases BRV based on HP damage dealt
Rising Slash :single: :melee: :brv: attack; increases BRV with each hit
+ version: increases more BRV after each hit
Feather Shots  :ranged: :brv: attack; delays target 1 turn when inflicting Break
+ version: grants allies BRV
Avatar Needle :single: :melee: :brv: attack; grants :buff_generic: 1T HP Damage Up (50% increase to HP damage), :buff_regen: 1T BRV Regen to self;
guarantees 2 consecutive turns on next turn
+ version: granted buffs are more potent (70% increase to HP damage)
Wing Tornado :single:  :magic: :wind: :brv: attack; increases BRV; inflicts :debuff_generic: 3T Stormwinds (Lowers DEF by 40%; deals a certain amount of BRV damage)
+ version: increases BRV more and inflicts :debuff_generic: 3T Stormwinds+ (Lowers DEF by 80%; deals more BRV damage)
Losing its temper…!
(enrage)
Raises ATK, DEF, INT BRV, MAX BRV by 30%, SPD by 60%

At wave start: Chaos aura grants 50% increase to SPD and lowers BRV damage taken by 30%
Winds gathering strength…!”:(activates at 80% HP):
Aura changes to 30% increase to ATK, INT BRV, MAX BRV and 60% to SPD, lowers BRV damage taken by 40%
Winds further gathering strength…!: (activates at 50% HP):
Aura changes to 50% increase to ATK, INT BRV, MAX BRV and 70% to SPD, lowers BRV damage taken by 60%
Enrage:
Yes. When one dies, the remaining Roc Raptor raises stats with “Losing its temper…!”.

These birds have a strong mix of physical and magical attacks. A tank or another form of damage mitigation or enemy incapacitation (paralyze/blind/HP attack disable) makes the fight much easier if you are running a team without the boosted units. If you do have Edward, the Sleep from his LD is the perfect counter for when the bosses queue several actions in a row.

Their Wing Tornado applies a heavy DEF Down debuff, making it easier for their other group attacks to break your team. But most of their attacks have innate BRV gain (even if their attacks are blocked by shields or evaded), so be ready to shave their BRV quickly and often.

After their signature move Avatar Needle, the boss will get a blue aura indicating their next turn will be 2 consecutive actions. This is coupled with a 1-turn buff that multiplies its HP damage. That is the perfect moment to use any means you might have to incapacitate them for one turn, or shield your party from HP attacks, so they waste their big shot. This buff is not framed, so overwriting it with enough debuffs (or simply dispelling it) is also an option.

When one of the Roc Raptors dies, the other will get hefty stat buffs through “Losing its temper…!”.

DISCLAIMER:
Challenge quests are just a small bonus if you have already geared up the characters it asks for. If you haven’t, it is NOT worth pulling for a new character or spending ingots if you only intend to use them here. You can easily clear it with any team to get 400 gems and 3 tickets. The extra rewards for a Perfect complete with boosted characters are a measly 100 gems and 2% of a BT weapon. Not worth the hassle!

Ardyn carries this CQ really hard with his insane damage. It is also made easier by the fact that the other boosted units are all either very good or at least decent. Edward’s LD really shines on the second wave, incapacitating the enemies through consecutive turns (especially when they are at their strongest, under 50% HP) and Kimahri’s and Hope’s kits bring a big defensive boost to counteract their offenses.

Gear Check: Ardyn needs EX+3 with LD, as usual. BT is as optional as ever. Everyone else can be carried with just their base kits and EX, or even less.

For a better idea of what team comps are able to complete this, check the Challenge Quest tab in the Call to Arms.
