Boss Mechanics

Only the most impactful attacks will be shown. Check the compendium for details on other moves.

  • The recast Fulgent Rain dispels your generic buffs and causes Interdimensional Rift (red aura, gives boss 100% BRV & HP DMG up and nullifies HP recovery for your party for 2T).
  • Recast gauge fills fast (around every 3 turns), and Fulgent Rain is also triggered automatically at 79% and 49% HP. This can lead to it happening twice in a row with the regular recast.
  • After 2 turns with the red aura up, or at 49% HP, the boss will use Chaotic Deluge and end the red aura.
  • If you have a character that needs to start the final wave at full HP to trigger passives, make sure to heal them after the red aura is gone.
Fulgent Rain

removes all of your characters’ non-framed buffs;
applies Interdimensional Rift to field (gives boss a red aura that doubles boss BRV damage and HP damage dealt, and prevents your characters’ HP recovery for 2 boss actions).
Chaotic DelugeReduces party’s BRV to 0 (if above half MAX BRV) or doubles Shinryu’s BRV (if party below half MAX BRV).
Happens as a free action after the boss attacks twice with the red aura; dispels the aura.
Instant TurnIf you take 5 consecutive instant turn actions, the boss will counterattack by having a free turn immediately. This only happens with a series of instant actions (for instance: Terra’s LD); it will not trigger if you mix in some regular or high turn rate actions.

Lufenia orb

  • Appears when :recastbar: recast ability is used (Count: 5)
  • Disappears when recast ability is used again. Repeats.
  • Stays frozen while the boss has less than 25% MAX BRV.
  • Special: while the orb is in play, boss has much higher DEF and SPD

Boss Mechanics

  • Beware the HP triggers that happen much earlier than usual in this fight (84% and 69%), causing heavy debuffs on you and dealing damage with Trinity.
  • This boss has much lower base stats than normal, but gains HUGE invisible buffs to them, more than tripling their value. This means your own debuffs are comparatively less effective than in other fights, but still necessary. With the additional DEF he gains while the Orb is active, teams without proper support may hit for 1 damage.
  • The perfect time to summon or use BT is usually when the boss has less than 70% health, without orb, and in the green aura.
  • If you have some way to disable of paralyze the boss, do it during green or yellow aura.
  • Every time Shinryu acts (except when paralyzed/sleeping/confused/etc), he will switch to the next aura in order. After blue, he goes back to yellow and repeats. The cycle resets back to yellow at 84% and 69% HP. At lower health, the boss may stay in an aura for more than one action.
    • Yellow Aura: mildly annoying (or very annoying if you brought a launch or delay team.)
    • Purple Aura: VERY annoying, the blocked healing can put you in danger of dying from a follow-up attack; and this aura is absolutely horrible for characters who rely on BRV battery to deal damage.
    • Green Aura: the most harmless aura, only noticeable if your team relies on Blind or Evasion; the perfect aura to use your summon/delays/turn deletion/etc.
    • Blue Aura: VERY BAD, when he is in this state you cannot shave BRV with direct attacks, only gravity/poison/sap/etc. Avoid getting broken during the Green aura, because afterwards you will have a hard time lowering the BRV he gains from that break.
Arrant Calamity
